The aim of the European Green Deal marks a gradual transition to nature-friendly-cars until 2035. It is quite an ambitious target which opens up a whole new future of the car industry and makes the green dream possible - no more cars that pollute the atmosphere with CO2 emissions. And that is not so far away anymore… It is expected that by 2035 the companies will stop manufacturing diesel and petrol-powered cars, and thus it is planned to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions up to 55%. By the year 2050 Europe is planning to become the 1st climate neutral part of the world, and the changes in the transport sector is an important component of the plan.
No doubt, during the last decades the car industry has been one of the main polluters and culprits of the climate crisis. However, both scientific and technological development has made a brighter and greener future possible - and this future is the electromobiles. It means that there will be a need for additional charging stations across the whole continent. And those are only some of the changes that await Europe in the upcoming years. In cooperation with driving school Presto, which is the largest driving school in Zemgale and all of Latvia, in the continuation, we will find out more not only about the training process in the driving school, but also about the future of electromobiles.
Transfer to nature-friendly-vehicles also means new job opportunities. In addition to that, it means that Europe could become a leader of an arising global market. In cooperation with partners on a global scale also the emissions that come from the transportation area will be reduced. Europe will give a presentation on it at the UN Climate Change Conference that will be hosted in Glasgow.
Since the very beginning of the start of the driving school there were thoughts about choosing nature-friendly cars; however, the increased price of the electromobiles played an important role. Therefore, due to economical considerations it was decided in favor of diesel and petrol-powered cars. However, it is expected that the aims set by the European Green Deal will make many driving schools reconsider that.
In general, the driving school industry is expecting to receive support with help of different grant programmes that would help to make the transition in the future to new cars. At the moment, there is no information about that; however, Presto has a positive outlook in the future with hope that the change will be possible. To make a transition to electromobiles, there is a need for a network for charging which still has not been built in sufficient amounts. Taking into account those circumstances, the electromobiles are not yet bought.
A novelty of Presto driving school is the opening of the private Presto maneuverability area in Eksporta street 20. Not only will it enable saving money to Presto students that would otherwise have to spend from their own pocket, but it may become a charging point for electromobiles in the future. Those are only speculations, as obviously there would be a need for more charging spots in Riga and all of Latvia.
At the moment the requirements set by the European Commision have not made CSDD make radical decisions about an immediate change of cars. In the near future the students will still have to be ready to pass the driving exam with the following car models - Volkswagen Golf 7, Audi A3 Sportback and BMW 218D XDrive Active Tourer. None of those cars is electromobile.
Presto still continues ensuring a training model that enables gaining enough knowledge and technical abilities to be able to pass the exam with those car brands. It is possible because Presto (unlike other driving schools) gives a free option to change instructors - and along that comes the possibility to change the car as well.
In the maneuverability training area, the rules to park the car in the figure of “garage” and “parallel parking” are the same for Aidu and BMW; however, when it comes to Golf, the nuances differ. Therefore, it is important to provide an opportunity to execute tasks at a maneuverability area with the corresponding car models. That would never be possible if the student was forced to drive under the guidance of only 1 instructor in every single class. Because of this reason, many students do not get further than the maneuverability area - if the understanding of the differences between those 3 models has not been gained.
Presto has always stood out as 1 of the most innovative driving schools that keeps up with the times. Entrenched standards of the realm is not its cup of cake. One of the most realistic steps to decrease the impact on the environment is the digitalization of the system. It is 1 of the aspects in which the driving school decided to divert the investments. It has enabled reducing the time spent on face-to-face visits as well as avoiding additional costs for the transportation costs to go to the driving school.
Instead of the paper format, Presto offers digital documents. Class booking and payment all is done through the digital profile of the student. It is also possible to sign the agreement online. It can be appreciated not only from time, nature and financial point of view, but it also helps to decrease the epidemiological risks.
The chosen training model is more elastic as elsewhere. The traditional approach to attach the student to 1 instructor according to the vision of the modern driving school is an outdated practice which does not justify itself neither from the economical, nor human point of view. The students' experience with such a model has proved that very often it causes additional inconveniences and conflicts and may even significantly increase the training period.
In Presto everything is managed differently - if the student is not happy with the teaching style of the instructor or gets an impression that the training is getting prolonged on purpose, the next class can already be booked with another instructor. The reasons to dislike a certain instructor may differ - it should be taken into account that we are all very different personalities. Therefore, Presto is convinced that each one should be given a free right to choose the right instructor for them - one that the student finds easy to cooperate with and whose teaching method enables progressing and moving towards the aim of independent driving.
Until now, the training at driving schools has always been in a face-to-face format, the online training has been started only due to the emergency situation and the virus. Later on, it is expected that everything will go back to normal. However, the law stipulates that there is a possibility to offer also something new - video training. At the moment the driving schools do not hurry to start it as the epidemiological restrictions are still applied. But the team of Presto has actually been working on the video training already for a while.
In the future, the students of Presto will be able to have 9 video training classes, but 3 classes will have to be attended in person. Those that want to have a full face-to-face training for all 11 classes may refuse video training. However, those that find it hard to combine work with training or there are other limiting factors, will surely appreciate the distance learning option. There will be 3 videos released weekly. At the end of each video training there will be an option to ask questions to the professor. It is another environment-friendly solution that enables saving both time and money at the same time.
To its students, Presto wishes to choose environment-friendly means of transport - after all, it is the future of Europe. Meanwhile, as we are still in this process of transition. Presto invites new students to join the driving school - it is possible to get acquainted with the agreement on presto.lv remotely and sign it within just a few minutes.
