It was dubbed "the most photographed car of the summer in 1994". This is an Audi 80 Cabriolet that belonged to Princess Diana. The car is now up for auction.
Lady Diana received a gift of a convertible from a representative office in St John's wood almost 26 years ago. "This was once Diana's personal car, a car that was obviously liked and in which she was constantly photographed at the time," reads the description of the car made by the auction house. However, this was a controversial choice.
Diana used the car from March to July 1994, and then returned it to the dealer, at a speedometer of 6,437 kilometers, according to Classic Car Auctions. Later, Audi revealed that the company's sales figures doubled after the Princess was repeatedly photographed driving a four-armed car.
After returning to the showroom, the car was purchased by television producer Ian Campbell Dale, who sold it two years later. At this hour, the mileage shows that he has driven about 35,400 miles. The Audi 80 Cabriolet has a 2.3-liter engine connected to an automatic transmission.
The auction is scheduled for late March in Birmingham. The starting price is 35,000 pounds(about 41,000 euros). The car was auctioned several times. The last time was two years ago, just on the day of Prince Harry's wedding, but not sold. The starting price then was 73,000 euros.http://fiatforum.lv/http://fiatforum.lv/
